Want to make Valentine’s Day special without putting a dent in your wallet? Here are 5 thoughtful ways to celebrate:
1. Slow Down
Plan a night-in with a home cooked meal and a movie. Make a special dinner that you might not normally prepare; perhaps steaks or seafood. Finish the meal with a small, decadent dessert. Then cozy up on the couch and watch a movie. Consider a flick you haven’t seen by grabbing a rental from Redbox or your local library. If you feel the need to splurge, you can always order something on demand (still cheaper than hitting the movies).
2. Keep it Simple
Skip the high-cost meal and take your special someone out for a lavish dessert. Restaurants are usually happy to accommodate dessert-only customers and many cities offer specialized dessert-based businesses. This may be a great way to accommodate busy schedules without the pressure of spending ALL evening together too!
3. Socialize
Host a potluck-style board game night with friends. Have everyone bring a board game and a food item to share. You can add a theme to it as well to make it more romantic for the holiday.
4. Take it Outside
Enjoy a bit of fresh air by taking your date on a hike, a walk at a local park, or to a nature trail. Think of all the great photos you can get to update your cover image on social media :)
5. DIY
Make homemade gifts for each other. Consider limiting the dollar amount on supplies to make it more challenging! Homemade gifts also have a tendency to be more meaningful and thoughtful since you have to use your creative side.
